Narcissism, How Do I Love Thee?

I keep seeing people on campus who
1) are not people I know (surprise, surprise)
2) do not really look like people I know
3) remind me of people I know, often to the point that I stare like a creep.

What gives?

In other news, I had a more than fabulous chat with some of my amigos that I feel I must share with the wider web world.

First, the context.
I won some South African wine as a door prize. We schemed to drink it, and opted to go out on the town instead.
Just before going out, we had the opportunity to pour over photos of peoples' summer travels, including elephants, Coliseums, Cuba, the world cup worldwide, irrigation projects in Swaziland, time in Rwanda and escapes from Lebanon. The pictures were awe-inspiring. So many talented travelling photograhers in the world - I look at my vacation shots and the little part of me that had deluded itself into thinking I was good at this kind of thing dies a little.
Thought I wasn't talking to the guy who took this photo, it still gives you an idea of how jealous/awed I am by what many of my friends have been able to do with their lives:

Anyway, back to the wine. To substitute for the South African wine (which I still intend to drink at some point), I had fine Dutch beer (Other beverage choices included fine Mexican beer and fine coffee house coffee, but those are less funny).

So, the discussion - mythologies of conflict, the end of the Canadian mythology, why Spiderman, Batman and the X-men are all awesome, and then philsophical archetypes (Hegelian subject-object, feminisim and Freud - you name it) as per superheroes and Canadiana.

I love my life on nights like that.
